Strengthen communities through every cup of exceptional coffee.

WINGS OF HOPE RESCUE HOME

In our mission to strengthen communities through every cup of exceptional coffee, on 3rd September 2020, we visited Wings of hope rescue home located in Kamulu, Ruai in Nairobi Kenya to not only talk to the girls but also offer assistance in the form of several assorted items they required at the home.

Wings of hope rescue home’s mission is to rescue, support, rehabilitate and disciple girls aged 11-17 years who are pregnant and in a vulnerable, unsupported situation where they are facing rejection and/or where the environment is causing harm or risk to both her and the unborn child.

We donated double-decker beds, mattresses, blankets, bed sheets, mosquito nets, baby diapers, tissues, sanitary pads, face masks, bathing and laundry Soaps, cooking oil, sugar, rice, maize flour among assorted foodstuff, and Coffee! A lot of coffee.

We intend to work with the team to develop a more self-sustaining model to support the great work they are currently already doing.

PUTTING COMMUNITY FIRST

The world is currently experiencing challenges posed by the Covid-19 Pandemic. Until this is contained, it cannot be business as usual.  Joining in this fight against the Coronavirus is the Dormans Group of companies which donated a mix of coffee, soap, and sanitizers to the Kenya Prisons Staff Training College which trains thousands of recruits and is located right next to them.

“This is aligned with the Dorman group’s commitment to empower and forge strong links with the community. These links become especially important in a time like this one where we are faced with what, on the surface seems to be an invincible enemy,”

- Rozy Rana, MD Dormans Coffee Limited

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Dormans Group of Companies. Spearheading the progression of communities as part of their wider celebrations plans, when the unexpected pandemic was declared, it is hardly surprising that Dormans chose to commit resources to the improvement of the health and safety of these communities.

DORMANS @ 10TO4

Ever wondered why your cup of Dormans coffee tastes so much better than any other coffee you've ever had?

There are three distinct elements that affect the taste of your coffee -  The raw beans, the roast profile and how the coffee is prepared.  For over 70 years, Dormans has sourced and processed the finest coffee beans which the roast master skillfully roasts to extenuate the wonderful nuances and flavours.   Not all the coffee produced is of the same quality. This is why Dormans carefully selects and procures coffee produced in high altitudes around Mt. Kenya and the Aberdares whose rich volcanic soils give rise to some of the world’s best coffee crops.

Strengthening the communities, protecting and conserving the quality of the soils and water, including sustainable agriculture are priority focus areas for Dormans. This is why every year, the Dormans group partners with Mount Kenya Trust (MKT) whose central mission revolves around conservation of our natural ecosystems.

In February 2020, Dormans was the platinum sponsor of MKTs annual 10to4 bike race where senior Baristas Brenda and Amutabi served delicious home-grown coffee to eager bikers and  spectators at both the race start and finish points!

DORMANS THE PLATINUM SPONSOR OF 10TO4 MOUNTAIN BIKE CHALLENGE

With 70 years of serving great coffee, Dormans group of companies knows the importance of protecting and conserving the environment, water, soils and wildlife of our wonderful country Kenya.  Once again, in February 2020, Dormans was the platinum sponsor of the annual 10 to 4 Bicycle Race, an initiative by Mount Kenya Trust to support the society and environment around Mt. Kenya.  Rozy Rana, MD of Dormans Coffee Limited said, ‘it is scientifically proven that unsustainable practices adversely impact on people and the environment. Going beyond what others consider ‘routine’ business by contributing to and collaborating with MKT to create positive impact on the communities in the regions has become a central part of our regular business.

Dormans is the premier roaster and supplier of a diverse range of coffee types to hotels, coffee-shops, supermarkets and wholesalers countrywide. We deliver freshly roasted coffee to our customers on a daily basis. Consistency and quality are the key differentiators and distinguishing features that have made Dormans a trusted household brand.

At Dormans, coffee is our lifeblood! We actively engage with the community at all levels - we roast, we cup, and train the Barista community. We care for our customers and our interaction extends to our farming community through the help of our partners. KENYA NATIONAL BARISTA CHAMPIONSHIP

Dormans pioneered the introduction of the Kenya National Barista Championship (KNBC) in 2004. The championship has gained in popularity over the years. KNBC has helped boost domestic coffee consumption and resulted in heightened awareness of the Barista as a professional. Clients of Dormans who participate in the competition receive extensive training, courtesy of Nairobi School of Coffee.
